THE NECROMANCER
A ONE-SHOT SHORT FILM.
THE NECROMANCER follows Shae, a woman with the power to summon ghosts by burning herself. While attempting to summon a lost loved one, she instead summons James - an erratic spirit yearning for connection. Both desperate and lonely, they bond over grief, dance, and punk music… while simultaneously circling each other in a dangerous game of power and control.
The film is a true “oner,” shot on a DJI Ronin 4D in a single continuous take. No cuts, hidden or otherwise. I knew from the beginning that I wanted this film to be a oner. Shae is so achingly lonely yet completely surrounded by grief and ghosts; in this way, the camera functions as a voyeuristic spirit as well.

Written and directed by Dylan Fox. Starring Gloria Cole, Zack Kozlow, and Lana Spring.
Also starring Solomon Zivot, in the role of “exhausted camera man.”
We rehearsed as if rehearsing for a play, creating a sort of “choreography” for our superstar cinematographer, Solomon Zivot. We shot on September 22, 2024, and finished the day with seven complete takes. We finished post-production at the end of March 2025.
